Notre FrenChateau

“lets buy a weekend home”

Not quite the ordinary house hunt

We don’t know where is it, we haven’t found it yet… All we know is that somewhere out there, hidden away in the midst of the bucolic rolling hills of this enchanting corner of France, it is asleep, waiting for us.

Seduced by the slower pace of life of the French countryside, the loose idea of a vineyard that someone else could tend while we enjoy the sight — and a few bottles in return — and the low price-tag  and superb quality of the properties, Jeff and I decided to look for a holiday home in the magnificent Loire Valley.

Seven hours away from London, the so called “Garden of the Republic” has history, beauty, wine, food and amazing people.  In our vision was the picture of a small stone cottage for us to escape to from time to time; a little dwelling by a river where we could grow grey gazing out at the scene of pastoral romance…

Then we got carried away, drunk on history, beauty and dreaming opportunities, we bought a 16th century ruin! Now we’re growing grey earlier from the restless restoration and countless bills to pay! But I’m jumping ahead.

NotreFrenChateau is the documented journey of our house hunt in France’s Loire Valley. As we embark on this adventure, we invite you to be part of the yet-unfinished story. Come join us and witness not only the search for the perfect house, but the awakening of a silenced universe of still beauty. Together, let’s discover our chateau’s past, understand its present and plan its future.

Welcome aboard!
