Deal or no-deal
the crazy rollercoaster
One up, two downs
December 2015. It wasn’t at all that cold. But hey! It was dark and damp outside and that’s all the excuse Jeff, our puppy Blake, and I needed for a relaxing evening by the fire.
Our mortgage broker called to share the news:
no bank in France was willing to lend us money for a house that was three times the size two people need — a bit richly judgy of them — and most definitely no bank will ever consider a loan for a château since many buyers come for the fantasy of living in a castle, but leave soon after they realize the real cost that dream represent, leaving the banks with the unpleasant stone corpse to deal with.
It was late and Jeff and I were very tired. Without that loan, Château du Pin was no longer the right move for us.
The next morning we decided we needed time to grieve and put the hunt on hold till springtime.
