When things go tits up
if things go tits up,
Go Home and regroup your feelings
April 2016. Almost three months passed since I last had the time to write and lots had happened
between now and then.
In a meeting with the children’s medical advisor, a string of overwhelming health conditions came to light. The two toddlers had an array of genetic complications that Jeff and I were simply not capable of helping them with. Strongly advised by the adoption team to decline the adoption, we had to face the devastating reality and say no. Heartbroken, we packed the car and escaped to our beloved Loire Valley to regroup our feelings.
Back in January, before our dreams of starting a family got shuttered, we left our hearts on the banks of the river Vienne, in Chinon, behind the over 400-year-old walls of Belebat and it was time to go back. We decided this was going to be a short one-week trip for us two to relax, eat and drink.
Now the week is over and we are driving back as planned. This time, however, we are not leaving France empty-handed. This morning we put an offer on the chateau that had stolen our hearts.
…And our offer was accepted. YAAAY!
